I have been working on my digital drawing lately. My mother died a month ago and I haven’t been feeling very artistic but I have been trying to get back to it. I have continued with the drawing challenges on Instagram when in the mood which is what prompted me to draw these peach colored ranunculus. I was also drawing this with a limited palette of three colors which was a prompt from another challenge.

I have been getting more and more comfortable with drawing in Procreate. There are so many brushes you can use and textures, plus you have the ability to make your own which is something I plan to explore more this year. I think that’s another way that I can use my love of photography in my digital artwork.

My mother loved flowers and would fill her rooms with fresh flowers when she could. She always made sure she had plenty of flowering bushes and trees surrounding her property and would have seasonal annuals to celebrate spring, summer and fall. I will always think of my mother when I draw flowers and birds, for she loved both.
